Do you like to read fantasy novels, or do you have a friend who does? Please visit my website, RavensGift.com, for a good read, a good etext, or a good audio podcast book. My current novel is called: Raven’s Gift.

Here is some advice about playing, and advancing, in the game of "Mind cards". This file, which is not quite a  genuine FAQ or Walkthrough, has been written by Tobias D. Robison, tobyr21@gmail.com.

For basic advice on how to play, see this short video (Thanks, AppSpy!)

As you progress, you may be tempted to Unlock many inexpensive cards. You can build a stronger deck by being patient, earning more gems, and unlocking some of the strongest cards first. Enjoy the journey! The goal is to enjoy defeating hordes of monsters while developing your skill and earning more gems. The cards you add to your deck will make the game less random, requiring more of your judgment in playing cards and even in planning board position.

The ideal way to choose which card to Unlock: Select the card that will enable you to succeed in your current quest.

A TIP: The "Double Hit" card is your great friend. Try to arrange to use up the deck such that eventually, there are just two cards left in the deck. If you can win the board layout, then Double Hit to get rid of the last two cards (just in case they are nasty monsters). If you can almost win the board layout, play one card and deal one card. Maybe it is the card you need to win.  If it is, play Double Hit to get rid of the last, undealt card.

UNE POINTE: There is an option to play in French or English. If you are English-speaking like me, this is a good way to expand your French vocabulary. Et Vice Versa.

THE QUESTS:

(1) You achieve the first quest, WARRIOR, by killing twenty monsters. That's easy enough.

(2) THE COLLECTOR: You achieve this quest by collecting jewels and then tapping on "Collection" from the home screen (NOT the game screen). You will see pictures of cards and their Gem cost. Pick one you can afford, that you feel will help you a lot. You can long-tap on any of these cards to see what they do, but some of the explainations will be murky. The first card I added to my collection was "Implosion", for 800 gems.
At this point, the game will still seem to believe that you have not unlocked a card. On the home screen, tap on the current quest, and you will get credit for it. (My second unlock was the Stupid Frog.)

(3) THE CONQUEROR: Play carefully, there's a lot of luck involved. But it is not hard to win 3 games in a row. After you win your three consecutive gaqmes, tap on the quest (on the home screen) to complete it.

(4) THE JEWELER: Collect 100 gems. Note your gem score at the bottom of the screen. Play awhile and note when you have amassed 100 more. Then, as usual, tap on the quest (on the home screen) to complete it.

(5) THE SCHOLAR: Win a game while playing 5 skill cards. If you find this difficult, Unlock another card.

(6)  THE SURVIVOR: Win a game, ending with 1 or 2 life. Be patient. If you find this too difficult, Unlock Implsion.

(7)  THE CRACKED:  Win a game, ending with three gem cards. If you find this difficult, unlock a card that gives you more gems. Try to leave jewel cards on the board, even when that forces you to lose life when you draw.

(8) THE JUSTICIARY: Kill 5 corrupt monsters. You will need to Unlock Deadly Corruption.  Also note: you do not need to kill all five in one game. When you play this card, it has no effect on the game board, but it corrupts 3 monster cards in the deck. Now what is a corrupt monster? Corrupt monster portraits look as though someone threw ink on them. Every time you play a card, corrupt monsters lose one power. (If their power is 1, they disappear.) And if you are not sure: you "kill" a monster by tapping it and lowring your life.

(9) THE INVINCIBLE: Win a game with your whole life. Be patient.

(10)  THE CONQUEROR II: Win 4 games in a row. By now, this quest should be easy. If it is not, check out your technique. Are you making any careless mistakes? You can overcome that. Is your deck relatively weak? Unlock one or two of the cards that seem most powerful to you.

(11)  THE HERO: Win a game with a score of 50 or higher. This quest is difficult. The good news is that you might earn many gems while trying it. You should probably Unlock Enchantment for this quest. Be careful! Enchanment doubles the value of all cards that have a number, even monsters. You will probably want to enchant at least three gems on the board. Try to tap as few gems as possible during this quest, and pay life instead to draw.

(12)  THE COLLECTOR II: Unlock 12 cards in the collection. On the main screen, the orange "Collection" banner shows how many you have unlocked. Once again, I advise Unlocking major cards to reach the total of twelve. You can complete this quest faster by unlocking cheap cards, but your deck will get weaker.

(13) THE WARRIOR II: Kill 100 monsters. Have fun.

(14)  THE MAGICIAN: Transform 3 cards. Note that many of the cards transform a card into something else. By now, you probably have at least four of these Unlocked, to handle this quest for you.

(15) THE JEWELER II: Collect 300 gems. As you progress, the average number of gems per game will increase, making this easier. Note that (I believe) you only score gems to meet this goal. The bonus you get for winning games does not count.

(16) THE HERO II: Win a game with a score of 70 or higher. This quest can be hard. If you regularly win games with over 40, then using Enchantment in a few games will solve the quest. Consider Unlocking a card that gives you more or better gems if the quest seems difficult.

(17)  THE MISER: Save 1000 coins. You'll need them for the next quest!

(18)  THE COLLECTOR III: Unlock 30 cards in the collection. Again, I advise you to be patient. Don't just Unlock cheap cards to complete this quest quickly. By now, you will notice that only a few of the cards you have unlocked appear in each game. You want that sampling of cards to be strong.

I shall report on more of the quests as I achieve them.

MORE TIPS:

+ The "Implosion" card sets your life to 1, apparently AFTER other effects have changed your life. For example, suppose your life is 2 and you have no food. If playing "Implosion" would set your life to 1 BEFORE the game charged you 1 life for playing the card, you would lose. But "Implosion" will set your life to 1 AFTER you are charged 1 life (for playing a card with no food).

Don't forget to buy M. Coyard a beer! He deserves a whole case.
